The Anti-Bully Pulpit And How Hateful Heteronormatives Ruined it!

AFTER The Heteronormative Ballyhoo

Well, another fun time ruined by the heteronormative prudes:

THIS SEEMS FAKE, BUT IT’S REAL: At Anti-Bullying Conference, Iowa Middle Schoolers Learn About Lesbian Strap-On Anal Sex, Fake Testicles.

In rural, small-town Iowa, a group of parents and community leaders is seeking to prevent students from the local taxpayer-funded middle school and high school from attending future versions of an anti–bullying conference for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender teens.

The last one — in April — left many of the denizens of Humboldt, Iowa up in arms, reports Des Moines NBC affiliate WHO-TV.

Iowa Safe Schools, an activist group out of Des Moines, hosted the conference.

It was quite something.

Among the nearly two dozen speakers, “only two” addressed bullying, one attendee estimated, according to

The rest of the sessions involved issues such as “how to pleasure their gay partners.”

Middle school girls from Humboldt (pop.: 4,690) had the opportunity to learn “how to sew fake testicles into their underwear in order to pass themselves off as boys.”

One speaker wore a dress made out of condoms to which could be “used as needed.” . . .

Nate Monson, executive director of Iowa Safe Schools, said parents who worry about middle school kids hearing about anal sex with strap-ons and analingus are “disgusting.”

“It’s incredibly frustrating that adults are being the problem and being the bully,” Monson told the Des Moines NBC affiliate. “

There is a lot more at the link, including another instance where about the same thing happened. But Nina Monson is right! What business is it of the parents’ how the conference is presented? I am sure that the gay and anal sex techniques were taught so that straight kids would have a better understanding of gay sexual practices, not just to tickle prurient interests.

Plus, as Mick Dumdell has previously written, gay sexual practices are just as worthy of respect as heteronormative sexual practices:

I suspect that these parents know little or nothing about gay sex, and that is the source of all their angst. Perhaps instead of sending their children to these conferences, they should go themselves! They seem to need lessons in anti-bullying more than the kids!

FootNote: The Images are from the 1922 Cecil B DeMille classic, Manslaughter. Wiki (and an IMDB review) say:

Manslaughter is a 1922 American silent drama film directed by Cecil B. DeMille and starring Thomas Meighan, Leatrice Joy, andLois Wilson. It was written by Jeanie MacPherson based upon the novel of the same name by Alice Duer Miller.A wild, wealthy woman (Joy) is brought to heel by a sermonizing district attorney after she accidentally hits and kills a motorcycle cop.

The story, of a shallow fun-loving rich girl discovering that the true meaning of life is service to others, is rather too moral to be taken seriously – especially as DeMille can’t help creating two completely gratuitous, but highly enjoyable, “flash-backs” to Ancient Rome, featuring wild orgies (and even a lesbian kiss!!). It’s the usual clash between DeMille’s fascination with sex and sado-masochism and his need to moralise against such things.

I’m glad they are still teaching sewing in school. I was a substitute teacher for a couple years when I went back to school to get certified. I subbed Family Skills one day and it was waffle making day. The girls followed the directions well and made some damn fine waffles. Most of the boys spent half the class cleaning their waffle irons after screwing the pooch.
